KÜNSTLER ENTDECKEN EUROPA / ARTISTS DISCOVER EUROPE

5th European Artists’ Competition 2011

The Europa-Union Leverkusen express their gratitude to all artists taking part in the
5th competition ARTISTS DISCOVER EUROPE and nominate them

Artist of Europe 2011

The competition was very successful. We received 126 applications of artists from Austria, Belarus, Bosnia, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Great Britain, Hungary, Lithuania, Moldova, Netherlands, Poland, Turkey and from non-European countries like Argentina, Azerbaijan, China, Mexico, South Africa and South Korea.

We received different techniques of painting, graphic arts, collages, sculptures, installations, mixed media, books, objects, photography, films, videos, multimedia-based objects: Variations of all fields of visual art. The jury consisting of twelve members – a symbol for the twelve stars in the European flag – did a very hard job !!!

The works were presented in different stages, they were prepared, individually inspected, shown twice by LCD projector and presented in a short verbal version. Each of the members of the jury sighted individually the various files. The well-composed jury (the various works were valuated discretely) appreciated the efficiency of all works in respect of quality and creativity. All 126 applications were valuated in an approving way. A wonderful result!

We deeply regret that it was not possible to honour all 126 works with prizes or an exhibition. We therefore decided to extend the exhibition and to award additional prizes, but primarily honour all 126 artists by nominating them Artist of Europe and by an internet presentation. You will find all 126 artists in alphabetic order stating the title of their work. The nomination “Artist of Europe 2011” and the internet presentation Europa-Union Leverkusen can be mentioned in their vita.

The Europa- Union Leverkusen express their thanks to you all for this European effort and wish you all the best and a creative future.

The winners and artists taking part in the exhibition will be published later.
